Siting a New Standard

Two seasoned professionals that travel for work frequently with two young children. A magnificent wooded building site with a south-facing view, backing up to a state forest.
The goal was to provide a new home for this young family, a home that will evolve as the children get older and can study, play, and sleep in a living zone more independent from their parents. The mission was to make the planning process as efficient as possible to make it possible, wedged in between travel and family time.
The Lindal Elements design catalogue, containing over thirty pre-planned houses created by Lindal’s design team, a dozen of which are published in the Lindal Elements Design Portfolio, provided the solution. The Elements 2765, a hillside design, contains three bedrooms on the upper level, with master suite and great room under the gently pitched wings of the butterfly roof. The roof form will provider expansive walls of south facing glass will fill the entire level with sunlight throughout the day. The clients enlarged the great room area slightly, added a generous pantry and bookcase walls, and repositioned the decks to conform to the site’s continuous slope.
The lower level of the house contains a garage, and we completed the design of this level with two additional bedrooms, bath, and common area – all south facing – that will be finished when the children are ready to move to their own quarters and the upper level bedrooms will become a guest room and den.
