We joined two Mod Fab accessory dwelling units to create a full-time retirement home. The larger wing houses the communal spaces and private guest suite, which the other wing will be a privately zoned master suite. The L-shape configuration (and the eventual addition of a Mod Fab pool cabana) enclose the pool area and enables private outdoor living, and the original Mod Fab cementboard exterior with primary colored wall sections create a bright oasis in the expansive desert environment. Deep roof overhangs, typically at the ends on the Mod Fab, were turned to the south and west to provide protection from harsh afternoon sun.
