An Addition Designed for Entertaining
Southampton, New York | 2400 Square Feet
An unassuming circa 1980 summer home in New York’s stylish and bustling summer community with a sweeping view of a fifty-acre nature preserve that feels like land’s end.
The client’s mission is to build a four-season indoor-outdoor entertainment space and dining room for large groups of weekend guests, a detached pool house and private guest suite, a new master suite, and pool. A spacious new entry joins the existing house to the addition and opens up to the view.
Our goal is to accomplish this without obstructing the afternoon sun from filling the existing house with light or affecting its stunning 180 degree view.
A pergola-covered exterior connects the house, addition, and pool house and creates a formal connection with the new pool. The large entertainment space opens to outdoor terraces through nearly sixty feet of disappearing glass walls. Above, the transparent master suite with a spectacular view and private deck is crowned with an expansive roof deck high above the verdant landscape.
