Since the beginning, my mission has been that Warmmodern Living would offer the kind of client-centric service and the level of architectural design capability and creativity required to marry site and lifestyle for a joyful result.
The spirit of modernism is one of timeliness. Modernism is “of the time,” and our changing times have given rise to increased awareness and interest in sustainability, energy inexpedience, and – in 2020 — a significant change in the meaning of “home” for most of us.
Over the last several years, our practice has grown considerably as has my desire to expand our capabilities. I began my search or a colleague who could work with me to meet the evolving needs of our clients, and I am very pleased to inform you that Tanya Nachia has joined Warmmodern Living.
Tanya received her undergraduate degree in architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and her professional degree in architecture from the University of Washington. Her professional credentials include work on commercial projects for luxury brands while at Peter Marino Architects in New York and later work on custom residences while at Stuart Silk Architects in Seattle. She was later recruited by Mulvanny G2 Architecture, where her work on a Sur La Table retail project earned Tanya a national design award.
For the last several years, she has developed her own practice, designing custom homes, additions, and renovations of Seattle-area residences. Her attention to detail and ability to translate clients' visions into on-budget realities have earned her accolades from her clients.
While my architectural education predated the use of CAD, Tanya’s expertise includes both pencil sketching and 3-D computer modeling of her designs. Her curriculum and practice include projects with emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency. Tanya enjoys a truly collaborative spirit. She will join me on some projects as well as working independently on other Warmmodern Living Lindal projects.
Tanya’s design ethic is that in order to create successful built environments the designer must first understand the cadence of the client’s lifestyle and of the site’s natural environment and connect them in a manner that brings joy to the client. The building’s form will naturally emerge from that understanding. Words that she works by::
“In order to design buildings with sensuous connections to life, one must think in a way that goes far beyond form and construction” Peter Zumthor
